When can my account balance drop below zero?
- A card transaction that you did not authorize
- A ‘delayed’ card payment (if for some reason the merchant had trouble processing the transaction for the first time, probably due to connection issues)
- Fees for services such as a Revolut Premium Plan subscription or Device Insurance
How do I check which transaction caused negative balance?
Go to your transactions' history → review all your transactions on each currency account.
What happens if my account balance drops below zero?
We'll notify you following a negative balance, and allow you up to 7 business days to add money.
After that, we'll attempt to correct the balance automatically by exchanging funds between your currency accounts or Vaults, or by adding money from your registered card in accordance with Revolut's T&Cs. You'll always be notified before any action is taken. Once the value is recovered, you'll receive a confirmation about this.
If you don't recognise a transaction that caused a negative balance on your account, please open 'I was not supposed to be charged by a specific merchant' article, and follow the steps.
